Swat and Kalam
PKR 16,000 per person, sharing room
Three days in Swat, with pickup in Lahore or Islamabad. PKR 16,000 per person in a sharing room, or PKR 43,500 for a couple in a separate room. The valley and the river road are the trip. Mahodand is only added when a longer plan is written.
Swat in three days is a green weekend, not a tour of every lake above Kalam. You reach the valley, sleep there, and come home. Orchards come before pine, and the river stays beside the road. A couple who want their own room take the couple rate. Everyone else is on a sharing basis.
The road
The road from Mingora toward Kalam is scenic and narrow. Three days does not fit Malam Jabba, Kalam and Mahodand without turning the middle day into a blur. We keep the published trip in the valley and name anything extra in the written plan.
Day by day
Day 1 — Pickup to Swat
The vehicle collects the group in Lahore or Islamabad and crosses into Swat. The night is in the valley, not back on the motorway. Malam Jabba is a stop only when the arrival still has daylight.
Day 2 — The river road
Up through Madyan and Bahrain as far as the day should go. Kalam if the road and the group allow it. This is the one full day in the valley. We do not add Mahodand on top of it and call the result rest.
Day 3 — Home
Down the same river in the morning, then the long run back to the pickup city. Lahore or Islamabad by night.
Before you decide
- July can be wet. The valley is still beautiful, and the jeep track is the first thing to close.
- Ask for a ground-floor room if anyone in the group struggles with hillside stairs.
- Best season: April to October
- Mingora is low. Kalam sits near 2,000 metres, and the Mahodand track climbs past that.

Along the way
- The Swat river road
- A night in the valley
- Malam Jabba only if the day can hold it
